Our Program and Goals The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. This means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. This is achieved in many ways, including:
- Christian Education with Spiritual Enrichment
- Development of Language, Pre-Math, Pre-Reading Science, and Social Skills
- Small group work and individual learning centers
- Physical Development and Play
- Music Exploration
- Arts & Crafts
- Field Trips
- Nutritious Snacks
Our Teacher Mrs. Brenda Ostby began teaching our preschool and pre-kindergarten programs in 1998. During that time she has been trained in early childhood education, but more importantly, she has taken the time to learn from the students in her care. Her ability to make each child feel special is one of her many gifts from God! Ms. Brenda lives in Deer Park with her husband, her son and their family dogs.
Our Classroom Aide Mrs. Carol La Rue joined our staff in 2003. What a blessing she has been! Originally from the east coast, Ms. Carol brings a sense of humor not typically seen out west. We love her and so do the children. She lives in Elk with her husband, her 2 children and their family dogs.
Our Director Mrs. Kim Ferrell became a part of our program in 2002. She is a WA state certified teacher in grades K-8 and can be found in the Deer Park schools working as a substitute teacher when she is not handling preschool business. Ms. Kim lives in Deer Park with her husband, her 3 children and their 4 (yes 4!!) cats.
All staff members are trained in First Aid/CPR and have periodic background checks through the state of Washington. All classroom volunteers must submit to a WA state background check.
About our Name With the blessing of our Heavenly Father, Faith Lutheran Church opened this preschool in the fall of 1987, under the name of Precious Moments Preschool, in reference to the precious moments that occur in the lives of little children. In the summer of 2008, due to continuing legal pressure from Precious Moments Inc., we changed our name to Precious Little Lambs Preschool.
While we do not feel that we have ever misled the public into thinking we were anything but a Christian preschool, we do not have the means nor the time to fight such a large coporation.
We still belive that the lives of all children are precious and that we are all lambs of God, therefore the name Precious Little Lambs Preschool was chosen.
We are the longest running established private preschool in Deer Park, and our committment to quality education for small children has not, and will not change.
